Bright Stars secured their Uganda Premier League status with a 2-0 win over JMC on Saturday at the Champions Satdium, Mwererwe.
Either of the Stars, Bul, Kirinya-Jinja or Lweza was set to join the two Jinja sides JMC and Sadolin Paints in the FUFA Big League next season, but Fred Kajoba’s men salvaged themselves as they secured the much needed three points in the dying minutes of the game.
Bright Stars, whose last home win came against Police last year in December scored through goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato who converted a penalty in the 86th minute and Joshua Kawadwa in the 87th minute, and for the first time in four months, Kajoba’s charges were on the winning side.
The side’s last triumph in the league came in February against Lweza, but they were able to secure victory when it mattered most.
The win lifts Bright Stars to ninth and they finish the league four places off the drop with 34 points.
