KCCA’s sensational young midfielder Allan Okello has revealed he never plays under pressure ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup tie against Club Africain of Tunisia.

The youngster missed the 3-0 loss over FUS Rabat in Morocco in the first Group A game and his return is timely given the absence of his senior, Muzamiru Mutyaba who is injured.

Asked whether carrying the creative burden of the team puts him under enormous pressure, the Kibuli SS student refuted.

“No pressure at all,” Okello told the press during a conference. “He (the coach) said it before and he keeps saying it. And I have been playing without it,” he added.

Okello, who has featured in the club’s continental games against Al Masry and Mamelodi Sundowns, says instead, the coach’s belief in him gives him a lot of confidence.

I’m just telling you it’s not going to be more pressure but a lot of confidence. The coach having a lot of confidence means you also have to believe in yourself that you can do it.

Despite his talent alongside teammate Julius Poloto, they could do little to defend the Copa Schools tournament in Masaka where Kibuli lost in the semifinals to losing finalists Kitende.

But the confident youngster believes the disappointment of failure in Masaka won’t be reflected in the KCCA shirt on Tuesday.

Not winning was just down to luck. We got a lot of issues in Masaka and it cost us a lot. But we are back in the team (KCCA) and ready to compete with our fellow players and it can’t prevent us from playing well in tomorrow’s game. That means tomorrow, we just take the coordination and play as the coach wants. Am sure we are winning.

Okello is expected to start in the middle of the pack alongside Isaac Kirabira and Tom Masiko against the Tunisians who sit second in Group A with 3 points as they won 3-1 against Rivers United of Nigeria in their first game.
