2017 Entebbe Laser Open (Sailing):
- Winner: Kim Bowerman
- 1st Runners up: Annabel Bowerman
- 2nd Runners up: Erik Sorel

Amidst very strong winds and heavy waves across the Lake Victoria waters at Entebbe Sailing club, 68 year old Kim Bowerman optimally put his vast experience to full play as he easily won the 2017 Entebbe Laser open on Sunday.
Coming from last weekend’s victory in the Russell Deering cup, Kim returned to the podium with another splendid performance under sunny day albeit windy conditions.
Bowerman disclosed his pleasure to Kawowo Sports shortly after the prize giving ceremony at the Entebbe sailing club.
It is a pleasure to win again. Coming top at the biggest event on the Entebbe sailing club calendar gives me special joy.
I am overwhelmed for the performance.
I thank the rest of the competitors for the great show. I also appreciate the work of the life savers and other helpers throughout the two day’s competition

Another Bowerman entity, Annabel (wife to the winner) came second, just like in the Russell Deering cup.
Third place was claimed by Erik Sorel.
Sorel was best in the Mbiro Island to Entebbe contest where Kim was second and Rojr Fragitora third.
Other top performers:
Beatrice Nassanga was the overall best lady whilst 10 year old Rosa Rafanomezana was best junior.

Adam Fielder had the best personal best, Karl Tiller was best yarcht and Igor Martov won the famous Entebbe Eagle.
According to Hidde Bekaan, one of the key figures in the organization of this event, the laser cup is arguably the biggest event on the calendar of Entebbe Sailing Club.
