- Result: Sharing 56-64 UCU Canons

UCU Canons registered their first win of the season in a hard fought 64-56 encounter with Sharing Youths at Lugogo Indoor stadium on Sunday.
Nicholas Natuhereza’s charges had a slow start and Sharing dictated matters in the first quarter with Gatwech Kutai and Stephen Otoa doing the damage on offense.
Sharing took the first 10 minutes 20-18 but were limited to just 10 points in the second quarter and trailed by 6 points at the half (30-36).
UCU captain Jonathan Egau and shooting guard Steven Wundi had the second half to themselves and saw the Canons through the two quarters.
Egau and Wundi scored 20 and 18 points respectively while Derrick Isiko and Isiah Ater contributed 9 and 5 in UCU’s victory.
Otoa’s team high 21 points were not enough to save Sharing on the day. Gatwech, who returned after a frustrating season at KIU Titans, contributed 12 points while former City Oilers forward Emma Okumu had 8 points in Sharing’s losing effort.
All the 56 points scored by Sharing came from the starting five and the second unit struggled to deal with the Canons whenever on the floor.
The Canons had eight scorers and only new addition Zeramula Twesigye and Fadhil Chuma failed to make the score sheet.
Chuma only played 0.5 seconds before being hauled off for unacceptable gear.
The Canons lost to Our Savior in their first game of the season last year.
