Controversial referee Robert Donney is back to the football supreme body in the country – the FUFA General Assembly.
Donney, who hails from Kasese district made the grade following the successful Kitara Region elections.
He will be joined by Mohammed Gore, Edgar Agaba, Rogers Byamukama and Jimmy Kiiza.
The highly tense and charged elections left veteran delegate and former referee George Kabwemukya out of the race.
Kitara Region 3rd division representative is Patrick Mbasiima, with James Ayebale at the region as chairman.
Yahaya Lubega and Christopher Ibona shall represent the coaches while Evaristo Begumisa and Patrick Kunihira are for the referees.
Sports journalist Henry Gama shall represent the Kitara Youth. Meanwhile, Kitara region players’ delegates are yet to be elected.
This year’s regional elections left lasting impressions with shocks registered.
In Buganda for instance, former FUFA Publicist Rogers Mulindwa as well as long serving delegates Meddie Sserwadda and Yusuf ‘Of Uganda’ Baliruno were shown the exit door.
Buganda Region also has a new chairperson in Andrew Kaweesa who defeated Sulaiman Ssejjengo to the top seat.
In the East, Uganda Cranes team manager Chrispus Muyinda is among the new faces that will be in the assembly after being elected alongside Sam Fredrick Lwere, Latifu Mafuko, Jamal Ngobi and Busoga Kingdom sports minister Nkono Amin Bbosa.
Away in the football mad – West Nile region, they are the same old faces ready to steer the beautiful game to another level for the next four years.
CAF match commissioner Mike Letti, Ibrahim Rasoul Ariga, Fred Isaac Ade, Andrew Onwang and Benson Charles Mawadri maintained their seats.
With the regional elections done and dusted, focus turns to the Special Interest Groups (S.I.G’s) nominations slated to start this Friday, 26th May till 31st May 2017.
The S.I.G’s successful candidates will be declared on 2nd June 2017 with the elections coming up on 5th June 2017.
The 93rd FUFA Ordinary Assembly will take place on 5th August 2017. This elective assembly shall be hosted by Kitara Region in Masindi.
The reigning FUFA President Moses Magogo has shown interest to stand for yet another term in office.
