Zambian locals will be treated to some thrilling and diligent action when the Zone 4.3 Individual Chess Championships get underway on 10th June at the Warm Harbor Hotel, Livingstone – Zambia.

The tourney -a Zone 4.2 Individual Chess Championships equivalent- has brought together some of the best chess players in Africa, and promises to be a gripping event.

Zambian International Master [IM] Andrew Kayonde who took the African Individuals held here in Kampala last year by storm, and fellow IMs Daniel Cawdery, Pedro Aderito, Richmond Phiri – the other players who were present at the Individuals are all lined up for the event.

South Africa’s first and only Grand Master [GM] Solomon Kenny, Zambian IMs Mwali Chitumbo, Daniel Jere, Gilian Bwalya and Stanley Chumfwa plus Kevin Chumfwa are the other top players ready for the competition.

“The line-up is pretty intense. Lots of top shots present, but as hosts, we shall try to do well,” Kayonde, Zambia’s No.1 seed said.

Kayonde, earned his IM title last year at the Individuals we hosted here in Kampala after he came second at the event.
