The seventh edition of the Weatherhead Open is set to take place next month from 9-11 at the National Hockey Stadium, Lugogo and Weatherhead coach Vincent Kasasa has set sights on the trophy.
Buoyed by his side’s positive attitude, Kasasa is looking at winning his second silverware as Weatherhead coach.
Weatherhead Open is an annual event organized by Weatherhead Hockey Club, but aside from their ladies team that has won it five times, the men’s team is still looking for their maiden trophy.
Kasasa is confident his boys will be up to the task this time around and will deliver the trophy.
“They may look like they are not hungry for success but we are working towards achieving that. I’m loving the turn-up for training, it is very good. Over the weekend, we beat KHC 3-2 in a friendly.
“Our attitude has greatly changed and we are looking at winning this trophy. We are also motivated by the fact that we shall be celebrating our 20 years in existence in the same week.”
Over 20 teams are expected to take part in this edition. Reigning league winners Wananchi come as defending champions in the Men’s category, while Deliverance Church are the defending champions in the ladies category.
And in the schools’ section, Kankugulu Memorial won both the boys’ and girls’ categories last year.
