Fred Wampamba left the rally fraternity awed by his impressive pace during the fourth round of the National Rally Championship in Fort Portal last weekend.
Navigated by Paul Musaazi, Wampamba kept the weekend’s battle alive with his tight and thrilling contention against other Fort Portal Rally hopefuls.
The Tiger Rally Team driver convincingly turned his opening day’s ninth position to a podium place. Wampamba completed the rally in second place in his Subaru Impreza N10.

“The event was moving on very well for us not until the last stage. The car developed some issues and almost caught fire. But Musaazi and I managed to have it sorted on time, but we had already lost some good time there,” explained Wampamba.
“Besides that, the event was so good on our side. The performance is what we expected. Our target was strictly not beyond the podium finish and we gladly made it. So our performance is not a surprise to us,” he added.
Wampamba has now sent out signals of intent to other title hopefuls.
“I have always desired the NRC title. And that is always my seasonal target. So this year is not exceptional.”
Wampamba moved to second position in the NRC standings with 175 points from three events he has covered this season.
