David Mutebi aims to set a new record for the most consecutive wins at the Corporate Woodball circuits when the 3rd event of the year tees off at St. Joseph’s Technical Institute, Kisubi fairways this Sunday.
He currently shares the record of two consecutive wins with teammate Ssemata Raymond.
Mutebi, now with 85 points will further set a new men’s record for the fewest strokes at the Corporate Woodball Circuits if he hits fewer than 46 strokes in 12 fairways.
He set the current record of 46 at the 2nd circuit held on May 21, 2017.
Mutebi currently has 85 points from two circuits.
Coming to the event, the St. Joseph’s Technical Institute Kisubi player and Justine Balemesa of Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) are the current leaders in either genders.
Ndejje Corporate Club’s Daniel Lubega is ranked 2nd with 73 points.
Last year’s winner, William Osire Likiriat who plays Bank of Uganda is 3rd with 71 points.
Mutebi will bank on home advantage to shrug off competition from Lubega Daniel, Osire William Likiriat and Ssemata Raymond who will be competing on the same score card.
Enter Balemesa, she seeks to extend her winning streak to three circuits in a row.
Bank of Uganda’s Agnes Apio holds the women’s record for consecutive wins at Corporate Woodball Circuits; she won five (5) circuits on the trot in 2014 to set the record.
Balemesa will, however, surpass the current women’s Record of least strokes at a Corporate Circuit.
She has the current record of 50 strokes.
Balemesa has 70 points from two circuits, 7 better than Namuddu Sophia (Ndejje Corporate Club) in 2nd position.
Margaret Mulamba of Kisubi Corporate Club and Buganda Land Board’s Patricia Najjemba will be the other ladies to face Balemesa on the same score card.
Under the doubles, Kisubi Corporate will aim at strengthening their hold on all the Doubles events come Sunday.
Raymond Ssemata and Rogers Tayebwa lead the men’s doubles log with 25 points from two circuits.
Nantumbwe Mary and Nanyonjo Annet top the Women’s Doubles with 17 points.
Mulamba Margaret and Bukenya Godfrey top the Mixed Doubles with 16 points.
This will be the last competitive event for the Corporates before the 5th Uganda International Open Woodball Championship due June 29 – July 02, 2017 at Kisubi Beach.
