
At least Ug.shs 1 billion is estimated to be spent on a state of art Futsal facility in Mengo, Kampala.
The facility will house two internationally recognized Futsal courts with synthetic surface.
Construction of two playing grounds is already underway and estimated to last for a period of one and half years with the official handover expected as by 1st August 2018.
According to the chief engineer at the site, Dauda Kyangwe, the facility will have standard dressing rooms, in house hospitality center, offices, sports shop, ample parking, fans’ stands with a complete roofing to cater for all weather seasons.
Kyangwe spoke to Kawowo Sports about the on-going works, expectations and targets;
Construction works is going on well and going by the projections, we shall beat the deadline set of one and a half years.
We shall put in place the dressing rooms, parking lot, fans’ stands, roofing and the playing turf in this period
It is projected to have a capacity of close to 2000 spectators.

Futsal Association of Uganda (FAU) chairperson, Hamza Jjunju is overwhelmed about the entire project.
It is an incredible development that Futsal will get such a befitting home in Uganda which is up to international standards.

I call upon other private investors, local federation and the Government to join the bandwagon

From being a leisure sport, last year, the game has graduated to competitive levels with the first ever Mini League held at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
Besides Lugogo, Futsal is also played in Ntinda, Kyebando and Busega, all Kampala city suburbs.
