Masaka SS girls celebrate

Rwanda Cricket Association will be hosting the 23rd Edition of Cricket for peace tournament scheduled to take place from 7th – 11th June 2017.

A total of Four teams will be participating in the above tournament namely; UCA Combined Schools Select XI, Uganda U23 National team, Kenya National team, & Rwanda National team.

As the ladies’ team prepares for the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Namibia later this year. Uganda will be sending the best 14 girls from the just concluded Girls Cricket Week plus an U23 side comprising mostly of girls out of school right now.

The schools select side will be handled by Ivan Kakande who is the coach of Soroti Cricket Academy while the U23 side will be handled by Masaka SS coach Yusuf Nanga.

Kenya and Uganda will be using these series as a work out for their teams preparing the World Cup Qualifiers in Namibia in September.

The school select side is managed by Miss Lwiza Nabulwala from Ndejje SS and the U23 select team is managed by Naomi Kayondo. We caught up with Yusuf Nanga coach of the U23 select side before they left and this is what he had to say about the tour

I expect too much competition from the opposition but all in all we will fight to the top. We had a short time training together as a team but we are ready to give our best in Kigali.

The teams leave for Kigali today and game will start tomorrow 8th till 11th.
