Uganda Cranes defender cum midfielder Hassan Wasswa Mawanda is optimistic the friendlies against Ethiopia and Senegal have shown the team where to rectify.
The two warm ups ended in a goalless stalemate and Wasswa played a part in both.
“We are well prepared for the game against Cape Verde,” said Wasswa. “We have been together for a couple of weeks now and played two friendlies against Ethiopia and Senegal,” he added.
I guess the coach identified where we need to rectify ahead of the game on Saturday.
Wasswa also confidently added that the team is physically and mentally set for the game against a strong Cape Verde side.
He further adds that drawing twice with two clean sheets gives them optimism.
As players, we are physically and mentally set. We know Cape Verde is a strong side just as we are and it won’t be an easy game but the target is maximum points.
The two clean sheets against Ethiopia and Senegal also give us a boost.
Wasswa is the assistant team captain and one of the most experienced players on the team.
Besides Cape Verde, Uganda will also face Tanzania and Lesotho in group L of the Road to Cameroon.
