The 2017 edition of the Weatherhead Open kicks off on Friday morning with hosts Weatherhead taking on Rockets in the Men’s category in the opening game at the National Hockey Stadium, Lugogo.
The side will hope for a brilliant start as they look to be crowned champions of their own tournament for the first time since its inception.
Former Weatherhead players -Weatherhead Historicals- will then take center stage with a game against Kampala Hockey Club Stallions before new league side Rhinos meet KHC Swans in the Ladies category.
In the Women’s category still, League champions Wananchi face Weatherhead Gazelles in their opener.
Wananchi [M] will entertain secondary side Kawempe Moslim and Kololo SSS vs KHC Swans will complete the first round of fixtures.
Defending champions in the Women’s category Deliverance Church failed to confirm participation meaning the category will see a new champion.
Wananchi are the reigning champions in the Men’s category
