Like last year, Legends Rugby Grounds will play host to this year’s first leg of the Elgon Cup.

With just a few hours until kickoff, the Kenya Simbas starting line up to face the Rugby Cranes is out.

Led by captain Darwin Mukidza, the Simbas are in Uganda to defend the cup they won last year and will be hoping for a strong start in the first leg.

Newcastle Falcons back-row Joshua Chisanga will start on the bench as he makes a return to Uganda having completed his high school education from Hanah International School.

Chisanga returns to the national team fold for the first time since moving to the Falcons. He missed the 2016 internationals and the team’s first game in 2017 against Germany last month.

Moses Amusala, Peter Karai and Dennis Karani will maintain their positions among the forwards while Simon Muniafu and Oliver Mangeni will pair at lock for once against Uganda.

The back-row features Davies Chenge, Eric Kerre and Martin Owila while Biko Adema and Samson Onsomu are the starting half-backs for the clash.

Jacob Ojee, Patrice Agunda, David Ambunya, Darwin Mukidza and Tony Onyango will complete the backline.

Kenya defeated Uganda 48-10 in Kampala last year before claiming a 45-24 victory in the return leg in Nairobi to lift the Elgon Cup.

Uganda’s starting lineup will feature two debutants in lock Robert Aziku and scrum half Ivan Kirabo.
