Come Saturday June 10, 2017, Cape Verde hosts Uganda Cranes in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The two sides have been paired together again after being in the same pool for the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers that also acted as qualifiers for the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations.

In our throwback, Ismael Kiyonga takes a look at the previous two meetings revealing the match day line ups.

To earn a place in the draw, Uganda eliminated Mauritius 4-3 on aggregate in a preliminary qualifier.

The first leg in Kampala ended 3-0 thanks to goals from David Obua, Hassan Mubiru and Assan Bajope but the Islanders replied in same currency in the return match.

It took the intervention of an extra time strike from David Obua to save Uganda Cranes blushes.

Uganda was then drawn alongside Cape Verde, South Africa, Burkina Faso, DR Congo and South Africa and guess what; they finished at the base of the group with a meager 8 points from a possible 30.

Uganda played away to Cape Verde on June 19, 2004 in Praia and lost 1-0 thanks to a winner from Arlindo Gomes Semedo in the 42nd minute.

It was Cranes second game of the campaign after winning 1-0 against DR Congo in the group opener.
