Democratic Republic of Congo hit to the summit of the Group G in the AFCON 2019 qualifiers after a 3-1 victory over Congo at Complex Omnisports Stade Des Martyrs on Saturday.

Villarreal striker Cedric Bakambu scored a brace in the game.

Bakambu got his first after 20 minutes before Osmanlıspor striker Thievy Bifouma found the equalizer on the stroke of half time.

Bakambu returned with his country’s and personal second goal 11 minutes into the second half.

Newcastle forward Chancel Mbemba wrapped up the business for Florent Ibenge’s coached side with the third goal at the death of the game.

DR Congo leads Group G ahead of the second match coming up on Sunday between Zimbabwe and Liberia at the National Stadium in Harare City.
