After winning the Weatherhead Open for the first time ever, Weatherhead boss, Vincent Kasasa says his charges are now hungry for more success.

The tournament organizers beat Kampala Hockey Club Stallions 4-2 on penalties in the final on Sunday to triumph at their own event for only their first time.

And ahead of the new season that gets underway on 17th June, Kasasa says Weatherhead who last won a league trophy in 2011 are more than motivated and are hungry for success.

“We are very happy and proud of this achievement,” Kasasa, a player-coach at the club said.

“As a team, it was very encouraging and having lost to KHC earlier, I came up with a new strategy that hammered them. I believe the team has learnt that strategy wins games. We are now all motivated to win more and more trophies that will come our way.

“We are going to use this experience to try to win other trophies including the league.” he added.

Kasasa says they were able to out compete KHC on the day because he changed the ‘strategy’, an approach he intends to stick to.

He said: “I changed the strategy and the formation. The team believed in everything we discussed including benching some of our starters like Agaba and Mutalya. We came for the finals with a totally different setup and strategy and it worked. We dominated the finals. We had an upper hand. We are going to employ such plans if we are to win the league.”

Weatherhead face defending champions Wananchi in the season opener.
