Speaking at the launch, FMU president Dusman Okee made assurances of a successful event.

“We thank Vivo energy for the continued and committed support towards the motorsport fraternity. This year’s Pearl of Africa Rally is with no doubt going to be an exciting and successful thanks to Shell.

“We have much better routes in Kayunga and the competition is expected to be high after several foreign crews confirming participation in the event. But as the organising team, we shall have every thing in control for a smooth event,” he said.

Meanwhile, Shell has also continued it’s support to the crews of Ronald Sebuguzi and Arthur Blick with a sponsorship package of 65million shillings each.

“We are really happy for this sponsorship. It will be able to motivate us further as we fight for the top positions during Pearl,” said Arthur Blick.

Meanwhile, over twenty crews have so far registered for the Pearl of Africa Rally including crews from Kenya, Zambia, Burundi and Rwanda.

Kenya’s Jaspreet Chatthe is currently leading the ARC standings with 30 points followed by Zambia’s Leroy Gomes and Carl Tundo in third.
