With a league title and the Uganda Cup to show after the season, KCCA FC will take this season as their best in club history.
It is the year they broke their league and cup double jinx and also managed to make the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time.
On Saturday June 24, the team will award winners at their annual awards dinner that will be held at City Hall.
Club fans will have a chance to vote for their best player of the season with five names nominated for the prestigious award.
There are eight categories to be awarded on the night.
While striker Geoffrey Sserunkuuma should be overwhelming favourite after netting 21 league goals, his partner Derrick Nsibambi, midfielders Allan Okello and Muzamir Mutyaba plus goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan will all vie for the coveted award.
The first edition of awards was held last year with wing back Joseph Ochaya taking the award home.
Of the seven awards that will be given out, four are named after club legends.
The most prestigious award on the night will be the Philip Omondi Footballer Of The Year Award. Omondi is considered the best player to have donned the KCCA jersey and the team’s home ground was named after him.
The Tom Lwanga Most Disciplined Player Of The Year Award has everything to do with behaviour and was won by defender Habib Kavuma last year.
The other awards are; Jimmy Kirunda Players’ Footballer Of The Year Award which was won by midfielder Muzamir Mutyaba, the Jackson Mayanja Young player of the Year Award, Fan Of The Year award and Fan’s Branch of The Year Award.
