Jackson Nunda can’t wait to step on the pitch after a long injury lay off that saw him miss the whole of the previously concluded domestic season.

The KCCA midfielder is expected to play his first competitive game on Sunday when FUS Rabat visit at Phillip Omondi stadium in more than a year after he suffered a bad injury in March 2016.

“Been out for a long time,” he told the club’s website. “I wasn’t ready for the season but continued to work hard none the less, I can’t wait to play competitive football again,” he added.

The former SC Villa midfielder is one of three players manager Mike Mutebi has added to his continental squad alongside Ibrahim Saddam Juma and Peter Magambo and he feels the squad has enough in quality to qualify for the quarter finals.

“We actually have a big chance of advancing, let’s win our home game and see what happens in the last group game against Club Africain.

“We have a strong team, we can create chances, we can score goals, we can as well defend well and we have a brilliant number one in Ochan Benjamin, we must give qualification a shot.

Nunda who will don shirt 8, made famous by the legendary Jackson ‘Mia Mia’ Mayanja scored the winner on Tuesday against Police in a practice match at Lugogo.

His return gives Mutebi a possible selection headache with Muzamiru Mutyaba, Tom Masiko and Allan Okello all available for selection.
