Defender Rashid Toha has been named as the new Onduparaka captain ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.
The defender who joined the club in 2013 has been rewarded for his loyalty and leadership qualities. He will be club captain for the coming season and will be assisted by the longest serving player at the club Gasper Adriko, artistic midfielder Gadafi Gadinho and Andama Koko.
“This is to notify you all that owing to the prevailing circumstances at the club, there has been a change in roles pertaining to the team. As such and with immediate effect, Rashid (Toha) has been appointed as team captain.
“He will be assisted by Jasper (Adriko), Gadafi Gadinho and Andama Koko. The appointed team members will serve as on-pitch leaders of the team and will offer guidance to the rest of the team members.
“We congratulate them upon their appointment and ask for your maximum cooperation as they assume their new roles,” read the club statement.
While this confirms the uncertainty of Shaban Mohammad’s future, the club insists it was something agreed on while still in the Big League. Shaban would captain the club in the Big League and only in their first season in the Uganda Premier League.
Onduparaka maintain no offers for the striker have been received.
