Ghana nearly derailed the Uganda’s campaign at the U19 Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in Nairobi but Uganda held its nerve defeating the West Africans by 29 runs.
Uganda named an unchanged team with Kenneth Waiswa winning the toss and electing to bat first.
Uganda was quickly in trouble losing wickets in clusters, opener Opio Ronald (67) managed to hold fort with only Kenneth Waiswa (22), Ashraf Ssenkubuge (17) and Zephaniah Arinaitwe (14) the other players who managed double figures scoring a meager 148 all out.
In reply, Uganda made early inroads with Trevor Bukenya (5/25) again starring with ball in hand and Zephaniah Arinaitwe (2/6) offering support. Ghana was eventually bowled out for 119.
Uganda remains on course to claim the only slot for the winning team at the main event in New Zealand.
The teams take a rest tomorrow and on Tuesday Uganda will face off with Kenya in a battle of the unbeaten teams.
