After playing just two games in this year’s Africa Gold Cup, the Rugby Cranes have gone up in ranking by seven places.

In the latest World Rugby Rankings released Monday, Uganda climbed two places and is now ranked 38th in the world.

With 49.67 points, Uganda moved from 40th after the 17-16 win over Senegal in Dakar. Uganda had occupied 40th spot prior to the win in West Africa.

Uganda has moved seven places in Seven days after playing two matches. Ranked 45th before the start of the Gold Cup, Uganda accumulated points from their 33-all draw with the highly ranked Kenya Simbas as well as the win over Senegal.

The latest move comes after a 17-16 away win over Senegal in the second round of Africa Gold Cup on Saturday, July 1.  Charles Uhuru and James Odong crossed the white wash in Senegal while Philip Wokorach scored two conversions and a penalty as Uganda won their last away game of the competition.

Senegal, who have lost two in a row in this campaign, dropped six places from 45th to 51st with 46.39 points while Tunisia, despite losing 7-53 to Namibia, climb one place from 49th to 48th.

Kenya Simbas remain the highest ranked East African team in 26th place while Namibia are 20th after the comprehensive victory over Tunisia.

Uganda has a chance of improving the ranking when they host the next three ties in the challenge for the African crown.

The Cranes will face Tunisia, Namibia and Zimbabwe in their last three games of the campaign.
