Kenya Simbas captain Wilson Kopondo has recovered in time to face Tunisia in the Simbas’ second game of the Africa Gold Cup on Saturday.
In the squad named for this weekend’s clash, the skipper, who dislocated his rib in the test match with Germany, has been lined up to start.
Jerome Paarwater’s charges sit fourth on the six-team log after the opening two rounds of the campaign and need to defeat Tunisia to re-establish their mojo in the campaign.
Having played out 33-all draw with Uganda in their first game, upto three changes have been made to the side.
Kopondo and Kabras Sugar’s George Nyambua will start in place of Simon Muniafu and Oliver Mangeni. Muniafu suffered a concussion against Uganda.
The other change will see Impala Saracens’ center Leo Seje replace Patrice Agunda.
Kenya need to win on Saturday to stay in the run for the championship and keep in touch with early leaders Uganda and Namibia.
Now four points off the pace, a win will be enough to put them level on points with Uganda while a bonus point win will see them leapfrog the 2007 champions.
Tunisia began their campaign with a 7-53 home defeat to Namibia on Saturday 1 July 2017 and will be looking to bounce back by posting their first ever win in Nairobi against a Simbas side that has dominated the three most recent outings between the two teams.
Tunisia are already occupying the last slot on the log and will be candidates for relegation this campaign.
