Uganda remains on course to qualify for the World Cup after defeating Botswana by 247 runs today at Gymkhana Cricket Club.
With a superior net run rate compared to closest rivals Kenya, Uganda just needs to beat Ghana on Friday and hope Botswana can do some damage to Kenya to qualify for the World Cup.
Uganda made 3 changes to the side that beat Kenya giving Gerald Mubiru, Fred Achellam, and Richard Agamire a chance in the places of Trevor Bukenya, Cosmas Kyewuta and Ashraf Senkubuge.
Uganda won the toss and elected to bat first but were in trouble inside 3 balls after Ronald Opio was run out for zero but after that, the show was directed by Zephaniah Katungi.
Katungi was the star of the day scoring 139 runs from 127 balls. He was involved in a 184 run partnership with his captain Kenneth Waiswa (64). Fred Achellam (47) had a cameo late on in his first game of the tournament helping Uganda finish on 330/7.
In reply, Botswana could only manage 83 runs in 25 overs. Richard Agamire playing in the place of the injured Trevor Bukenya picked 6/22 with Kenneth Waiswa (1/17), Nsubuga Sirajje (1/5) and Agaba Eddie (1/3) backing him up.
