Kenya pulled off one of the greatest escapes in cricket defeating Uganda Baby Cricket Cranes by 7 wickets and qualifying for the U19 World Cup in the process.

Uganda came into the game as firm favorites to qualify for the World Cup as winners of the Africa Divison but an inspired performance from Kenya stopped Uganda in its trucks.

Uganda won the toss and chose to bat first but they would regret doing so with the Kenyan medium papers ripping through their reliable top order.

Uganda was quickly reduced to 33/7 and with no notable contributions from anyone. All partnerships were of dot balls and not runs.

Some late big hits from Roger Olipa (17) helped Uganda limp to 60 all out.

The Math required Kenya to chase the same score in 9.2 Overs and they did so in 8.3 Overs. The big crowd mostly of school kids ran onto the pitch to hug their stars after Trevor Bukenya’s ball went for 4.

Kenya qualifies for the World Cup next year in New Zealand as winners of the Africa region and will join Namibia who finished as the highest ranking associated nation.

It was heart break for Team Uganda who will have to wait another 2 years before getting another shot at the World Cup.
