Onduparaka Football Club newly appointed captain, Rashid Toha is excited about his latest role at the religiously supported Arua team.

The towering center half, who is part of the Uganda Cranes CHAN team replaced Muhammad Shaban in the latest development from the club.

In an exclusive interview with Toha, one of the few existing players who played with the club right from the FUFA Big League, he revealed the willingness to serve above self.

I am happy that I am now the team captain for Onduparaka Football Club.

As a team leader, I want to be exemplary on and off the field of play before the rest of the players.

Definitely, here, discipline is paramount.

The former Faith Hope Love (FHL) Central Football Club player in Moyo district will be deputized by right back, Gasper Adriko, another long serving player at the club.

He takes over the captain’s arm band from striker Muhammad Shaban, whose conduct, commitment and loyalty to the club of late worried the management.

Onduparaka finished 5th in their debut season with an enviable home record where no club managed to defeat them.

Toha habours bold, realistic and bigger aspirations for the club ahead of the 2017-18 season.

We want (us) to perform better than we did last season.

Improving on the unconvincing away record will be a key priority for the club with the target of a top three finish.

Then the league title is a bonus for the coming season but a must in the third season.

Club’s new players:

He is delighted about the new players on board at the club.

Onduparaka has been the busiest entity among the 16 Uganda Premier League clubs in the primary transfer window with 7 new players so far.

Currently coached by former Uganda Cranes internationals Charles Livingstone Mbabazi and Leo Adraa, the Arua side has already sent a strong statement of intent in the domestic transfer market.

Promising and industrious right back Aggrey Kirya, tried and tested center forward Karim Ndugwa, former Nebbi Central fast paced winger Rashid Okocha are some of the new signings.

Others are Allan Busobozi (from Gulu’s Football For Good Academy), goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato (Bright Stars), Bob Kasozi (Express) and Rajab Kakooza (Lweza).
