Reigning Total CAF Champions League holders Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa will face Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club in the quarter finals of this year’s edition.

The South Africans, home to Uganda Cranes skipper Denis Onyango will host the first leg first after finishing second in group C with 9 points, three adrift of group toppers Esperance of Tunisia.

In other quarter final pairings, Libya’s Ahly Tripoli face off against Tunisia’s Etoile Du Sahel, Egypt’s Al Ahly take on another Tunisian side, Esperance while Ferroviaro da Beira of Mozambique take on Algeria’s USM Algers.

The Mozambican side only reached the last eight of the competition after a FIFA ban on Sudan that automatically kicked out El Merriekh which had a very good chance going into the final round.

The first legs of the will be played on the weekend of 8-10 September 2017 and the second leg on 15-17 September this year.

Each of the eight quarter finalists is entitled to $ 650,000 (Ugx. 2.34 billion) for reaching the stage and each Football Association of the representing club also receives $ 32,500 (Ugx. 117 million).
