There were mixed results for team Uganda on Day 1 of the IAAF World U18 Championships at the Moi international sports center, kasarani in Nairobi, Kenya.
The opening, morning session for Uganda saw Hosea Kiplangat running the 1500m heat 1.

It was a Dominic Kipkemboi’s show from start to finish. The Kenyan finished first in 3:48:77 with Algerian Oussama Cherrad and Abebe Dessassa from Ethiopia finishing 3rd and 4th respectively.
With the first four of each heat qualified for the final, Kiplangat finished 4th with 3:56:44 .
Ugandan Daniel Kiprop who ran in Heat 2 finished 3rd 3:58:68 qualifying for the final scheduled for Friday 14th July 2017.

He appreciated the weather, expecting better in the finals.
“The weather is very good,I hope God can help run better in the final”, said the 17 year old Kiprop.

In the 400m,both Eric Layeng and Manuel Goni were disqualified under the IAAF rule 163.3(a) lane infringement.
The afternoon session will have 4 Uganda competitors, 2 girls,Sarah Chelengat and Esther Chekwemoi the 3000sc and 2 boys Joshua Kibet and Bekele Apenyo in the 800m.
