Barely a minute after coming on for his Rugby Cranes debut against the Kenya Simbas on June 10, Aaron Ofoirwoth was sent to the sin bin for infringement.
Kenya scored the resultant penalty before adding another to defeat Uganda 23-18 and take the advantage in the race for the Elgon Cup.
Ofoirwoth was then dropped from the team that traveled to Nairobi and Dakar with Ivan Kirabo and Ivan Makmot named as the two number nines on the team.
However, Ofoirwoth will now get a second chance to impress head coach John Duncan and his assistant Robert Seguya.
This time round, it is a starting place for the Heathens revelation. The young half back will pair up with Ivan Magomu in dictating the tempo of the game on Saturday.
“I didn’t play well on my debut and I want to use the chance given to me now,” Ofoirwoth told Kawowo Sports after being named on the starting team.
Even after that mistake on his debut, there will be no pressure on the lad when he runs onto the pitch for his second piece of action in national colours.
Ofoirwoth’s second chance comes due to a reported stomach upset suffered by first choice scrum half Ivan Kirabo.
Makmot, who played in Senegal, will be on the bench if needed to replace Ofoirwoth.
Ofoirwoth joins Byron Oketayot as the only new starters to the team that played in Senegal.
