Wanderers and Olila High School will face in the Mehta T20 ladies league on Saturday.
Wanderers come in to the game with some confidence after defeating the defending champions Tornado B by 6 wickets in Entebbe last Saturday.
They have been able to punch above their weight with limited resources compared to their more resourceful opponents.
New recruits Consy Aweko and Hope Wanichan stand out as the top contributors to Wanderers’ progress so far.
Olila, nevertheless, has done well for a team that is playing in Div 1 for the 1st time.
Gertrude Chandiru and Rachel Ntono have been so instrumental to Olila High and will be relied on for Saturday.
Speaking to Kawowo Sports, Olila High School Team Manager Felix Musana talked up exploiting Wanderers’ batting gaps as they look to sweep the encounter.
It’s a big derby for us as most of wanderers players; the captain, Anyipo, Nabwana are from Soroti and products of the Academy. Wanderers groomed some of our stars like Joyce Mary, Anyigo Mildred.
Coming to the game it’s going to be a tough game. We are coming for the 2 wins 2 give us momentum and a chance of making the Semi-finals.
Wanderers is doing well they are a good bowling side and we will look at exploiting their batting gaps, anything above 70 we believe is tricky for them
In Entebbe, defending champions Tornado B face off with 2015 champions Pioneer.
Pioneer is on top of the table after they defeated KICC in both games last Saturday.
Tornado B will have their coach Jackson Ogwang back from national duty with the U19 team in Nairobi.
They haven’t been firing on all cylinders and if they are to defend their title they need to get back to winning ways.
The loss to Wanderers in Entebbe last week was unexpected and they will need to finding their winning mojo back.
Tornado B will need to watch out for Abel Queentor who has been scoring lots of runs for Pioneer plus the evergreen Barbara Mukankusi.
Pioneer all rounder Carol Namugenyi is confident about her teams chances;
I will only say may the best team win. We are going to beat them. This season my team looks very composed, having Leona Babirye stepping up with good batting and holding the team. Prico Nakitende coming up the order gives me hope of playing well against Tornado B
In the only Div 2 game Charity takes on Masaka SS in Buddo.
Charity has the experience of McKenzie Ayato to help them conquer the school girls of Masaka.
Though Masaka may be no walk over after having an impressive run in the girls schools cricket week.
