The 2017 National Motocross Championship returns this Sunday with the fifth round at the Motorsports Arena, Busiika.

Over seventy riders are expected to take part in the weekend’s race as they fight for the championship points in their respective classes.

The MX65 class is one expected to produce close competition especially between Malcom Lubega against the Obote cousins; Milton Akaki and Akena Obote.

The two grand sons of the former president of Uganda, the late Milton Obote.

Akaki(11years) and Akena(10years) say they are now better prepared for the weekend race.

“We are very set for the race. We have done enough training preparing for the Sunday’s event.

“We have gone through the new track in Busiika, and I prefer it more to the old one. The corners are so nice and they put much sand on the track which works for us to avoid falling off. But Akena prefers Garuga more,” explains Akaki.

Akena is currently second in the MX65; seven points behind class leader Malcom Lubega while Akaki is in third; 19 points behind leader.

“We plan to dominate on Sunday by having a good start in all the heats. Ride steadily and consistent through.

“We shall concentrate more on the first two heats because by the last heat the track will be spoilt by the big bikes digging in the Sand.”

Akaki will ride a Kawasaki 2015 while Akena will sit on a KTM 2017.
