- Nkumba Lady Marine 60-74 UCU Lady Canons
- UCU Canons 72-57 Nkumba Marines

It was double joy for UCU as both their sides defeated Nkumba in the National Basketball League on Wednesday night at YMCA.
UCU Canons held off Nkumba Marines 72-57 thanks to an offensively fluid and defensively solid second quarter in which they outscored the former champions 25-8.
While the 2006 champions are currently no match to Canons, they made the opening quarter of the game a contest (like they have done in most games) before they were torn apart. Canons started the quarter with a 7-0 but Nkumba responded after the halfway mark to win 12-11.
Wilson Otweyo opened the scoring for Nkumba in the second quarter but Canons took the lead on Andrew Gang’s layup with 8:23 and never looked back as they connected four three-pointers in succession.
Steven Wundi led UCU’s charge with game high 24 points, 18 of which came from downtown. Isaiah Ater added 13 points and Gang contributed 10. Sydney Chisamba scored team high 20 points for Nkumba, Otweyo and Brian Sivachi contributed 10 apiece.
Meanwhile, in the women’s division, Lady Canons beat Lady Marines 74-60 in a game that was interrupted by lighting at the court.
After an all square first quarter, Nkumba surprisingly went ahead and led 32-25 thanks in part to their top scorer Brenda Ekone.
However, the Lady Canons turned up the heat on the defensive end and limited Nkumba to just 8 points in the third quarter while scoring 25 on the other end with Judith Nansobya, Rachael Muwanguzi and Velma Achieng contributing the bulk.
Nansobya finished with game high 26 points and Achieng tallied 20 points and 10 rebounds to pace Lady Canons. Nkumba only had Ekone in double figures with 15 points.
