Evenings at Lugogo Cricket Oval will not be the same starting Friday, 28th July.

Kampala Boys Sports Club (KBSC) together with Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) launched the annual Night Cricket tournament due to start next week.

The calendar event has been a hit with the local community and this will be it’s 5th season.

Sanjiv Patel speaking on behalf of KBSC also unveiled Rainbow Paints as the headline sponsor with the winners cup named the Rainbow Cup. Aziz Damani who was a sponsor last season stays on as the other sponsor.

The stakes are higher for teams this year with the winning team set to walk away with 15M and runners up 8M an increment from 10M and 7.5M respectively from last year.

Pak Stallions the winners from last season will be tussling it out with 15 other teams split into 2 groups.

The organisers have also changed format from the usual 4 groups to the 16 teams divided into 2 groups of 8 teams, this was done to allow teams play more games. The top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals and then finals.

Martin Ondenko from Uganda Cricket Association lauded KBSC for being consistent in their endevour​ to promote cricket and promised UCA’s commitment to the annual event.

The draws for the event were held on last evening with the press allowed to draw some of the teams.

Games start as early as 7pm, with 2 games played every evening.
