Uganda Cranes made easy work of South Sudan Bright Stars as they won 5-1 to advance to the play off stage in the CHAN 2014 qualifiers.
Paul Mucureezi grabbed the headlines for scoring four times off the bench but how did each player on the day rate?
Ismail Watenga 7.0: The Vipers goalkeeper could do little to stop South Sudan’s only goal but was superb on the day as he made over four match winning saves to keep the visitors at bay.
Nicholas Wadada 7.0: He was fantastic as usual as he continued to stamp authority on the right back position. Defended solidly and also joined in attack- bagging an assist with a well weighed cross for the opening goal.
Isaac Muleme 7.0: The KCCA man was solid in defensive against the visitors and provided an excellent outlet in attack as he supported Kagimu.
Savio Kabugo 6.0: Some classy moments at the back from the Proline defender although he switched off mentally on many occasions especially in the lead up to the Bright Stars goal.
Timothy Awany 6.0: Another mature performance from the KCCA defender that bellies his age. Fought a good aerial battle with the big man James Joseph Saeed.
Bernard Muwanga 7.0: The team captain offered a defensive cover to the defence, made some brilliant interceptions and also passed the ball well after winning it.
Moses Waiswa 7.5: Exhibited confidence and controlled play in the central midfield with skill and passes. The Vipers’ man’s swagger was summed up by the glorious pass to Mucureezi for the second goal.
Shafik Kagimu 7.0: The URA midfielder proved why he earned a starting berth. His pace, skill and silky touches were too much for the South Sudan side and often tested the goalie with fine long range efforts.
Muzamiru Mutyaba 6.0: Not the best of performances from the KCCA midfield gem but his confidence and creativity on the ball were evident.
Milton Kariisa 6.5: Struggled to impress in the first half but was a different player in the second half as he kept the visitors’ defence busy. His effort and pace were evident and unfortunate to miss on the score sheet but his link up play saw him bag two assists on the day.
Derrick Nsibambi 6.5: Scored his first goal for the national team as he nodded the ball over Khamis Daniel Kas in South Sudan goal but his afternoon was brought to an end in the first half after failing to recover from that collision with the goalie.
Substitutes
Paul Mucureezi 9.5: Sensational performance from the KCCA midfielder who came off the bench to score four times. Good positioning and rightfully timed his runs for all his goals but what a strike that opened his day!! Superb movement, control and finish.
Simon Sserunkuma 5.0: He came on with the game already won and did just decently but not special.
Tom Masiko 5.0: Had a few touches and combination play with his midfield partners when he came on late in the second half.
