With one game left for the top three nations on the Africa Gold Cup log, Namibia remain favourites to win the championship.
However, it will not be as straightforward. The Kenya Simbas will give it a push till the end.
The Simbas ensured they stay in the title race with a 41-22 win over Zimbabwe in Bulawayo over the weekend.
The win came after Namibia’s 48-24 truimph over Uganda in Kampala as the defending champions collected maximum points for the fourth time in this campaign.
With both teams bagging maximum points, the last fixture, that features the two sides, will decide the winner of this year’s Africa Cup.
Namibia lead the log with 20 points while Kenya have 17, just 3 off the pace.
Uganda remained third despite the loss to Namibia. Still on 11 points, the Cranes are ahead of fourth placed Zimbabwe although the latter have a game in hand.
Zimbabwe have six points and have a chance to cut the deficit when they take on Tunisia this weekend before travelling to Kampala for their final game.
Senegal and Tunisia, both promoted this year to the top tier, will decide between themselves on who will drop to Tier 1B.
Senegal have 1 point from their 16-17 defeat by Uganda while Tunisia are pointless after three games.
The two sides will face off in their final piece of action this campaign.
Africa Gold Cup comes to an end on Saturday August 5 when Zimbabwe visit Uganda while Senegal travel to Tunisia.
