The chase for Africa Rally Championship points resumes with the fifth round in Tanzania.

The Oryx Energies Rally, now the fifth round of the African Rally series heads back to the coastal town of Bagamoyo from August 4-6.

Ten crews will be in a mix for the ARC championship points.

Manvir Baryan, Jaspreet Chatthe, Muna Singh, Christakis Fitidis, Leroy Gomes, Kleevan Gomes, Gurpal Sandhu, Dharam Pandya, Randeep Singh and Pierro Canabbio will be the ARC contenders.

Kenya’s Manvir Baryan heads to Tanzania sitting at the top of the ARC standings with 40 points; two points ahead of second placed Leroy Gomes from Zambia.

Baryan and co-driver Drew Sturrock from Scotland will be making their debut in Tanzania with their Skoda Fabia R5.

A DNF in Pearl of Africa Rally demoted the 2015 ARC champion Jaspreet Chathe to the third place; 12 points behind Manvir Baryan.

Kleevan Gomes comes in fourth position ahead of Carl Tundo and Guy Botteril who both tie on 25 points.

Uganda’s Christakis Fitidis and Eric Nzamwita are seventh with 18 points.

For the first time, three local crews will be representing Tanzania in the ARC contention. Dharam Pandya, Gurpal Sandhu and Randeep Singh will all be making their debut as ARC contenders.

Meanwhile, Zambia’s Muna Singh will return to the ARC chase after missing the previous two rounds.
