Kenya’s Manvir Baryan is keen on good finish in the fifth round of Africa Rally Championship (ARC). He hopes that will give him enough momentum to pursue the ARC title chase to the last event.
The ARC fifth round revs off this weekend in Bagamoyo, Tanzania.
The Multiple Rally Team driver climbed to the top of the ARC leader board following his victory in the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally in June. He is just two points ahead of Zambia’s Leroy Gomes.
Although he earlier showed no interest in the ARC title chase, Manvir confessed that the Tanzania Rally will determine his continuation in the championship.
“After the cancellation of the fifth round of KNRC, we decided to give Tanzania a short and see how it goes.
“And our performance in Tanzania will determine whether to continue with the remaining two ARC events or not,” he told Kawowo Sports.
Baryan and his co-driver Drew Sturrock from Scotland will be making their debut in Tanzania.
The crew has centered its targets on a podium finish.
“It’s difficult for me to say what exactly to expect since have not rallied in Tanzania before but our target will be obviously to finish on podium overall,” he said.
