After suffering an embarrassing 85-75 defeat to UPDF Tomahawks a week ago, Power were in no mood to give another minnow a chance to smile.

The five-time National Basketball League champions waltzed to an emphatic 81-49 win over two-time winners Nkumba Marines on Sunday.

Nkumba’s Malvin Midaki got the first points on the board but Power quickly responded with Joseph Ikong (who scored 9 points in the first quarter) and Isaac Afidra connecting from downtown and last year’s finalists took the first quarter 20-8.

Ikong matched the first quarter points tally in the second frame and the 2011 champions led 38-16 at halftime.

There was no way back for Nkumba despite matching Power’s 18 points in the third quarter as the fell to 25-15 fourth period and ultimately their eighth defeat of the season.

Ikong led Power (7-2) with game high 22 points, Okot added 12 and Nasser Guddi contributed 11 points.

Midaki had team high 19 points for Nkumba and Sydney Chisamba chipped in with 12 points.
