Ahmed Huwel says he is more than ready to face the expected challenge in the fifth round of the Africa Rally Championship this weekend in Bagamoyo, Tanzania.
The event will feature drivers from Kenya, Zambia and Uganda.
Huwel says he has prepared well for the event by flying in Tapio Laukkanen to Tanzania for training.
“I have never been so ready for a race like this. I am both physically and emotionally ready. And the car should fine by the time of the event.
“I started my preparations a bit earlier when I had Tapio here on several occasions. And he was impressed by me which gave me more confidence ahead of the event,” he said.
Huwel is among the fast drivers in the Tanzania and he is expected to put up a challenge against the foreign crews.
“I am so glad that I will be racing against some of the fast drivers in the region. This will give me a platform to gauge my pace with them.
“It’s definitely going to be a tight race now that everyone is targeting a win. But I will also endure to attempt to go on top,” Huwel says.
The Mkwawa Rally Team driver believes the stages will guide his target.
Huwel says, “The stages are so perfect. They have everything from smooth, a bit of rough, tight and twisty some parts. They will definitely bring out a good fight from drivers.
“I personally like them and I will be able to count them and they will work best for us.”
Huwel will have Maisam Fazal calling the pace notes in the Ford Fiesta Proto.
