Weatherhead [M] will be keen to cut the gap between them and table leaders Kampala Hockey Club Stallions when they go head to head with Simba on Saturday at the National Hockey Stadium, Lugogo.
The 2011 league champions ended the first round three points behind the table toppers, but following their thrilling 4-4 draw against Wananchi last Saturday and KHC’s 5-0 thumping of bottom side Rockets , they now trail the Stallions by five points.
With the league leaders out of action this weekend, Weatherhead will look to reduce the gap to two points. Their first round victory over Simba should be a boost and it is hard to see Ali Mohammed’s side troubling the side looking for their first league trophy in six years.
Weatherhead will rely much on their player-coach Vincent Kasasa for goals. Kasasa has scored in all their games bar one. He only failed to see the back of the net against Wananchi in their first league meet this year. Weatherhead won that game 2-0 with Peter Elolu and Benon Lukyamuzi doing the job.
Kasasa has scored in each of his last three games including one against defending champions Wananchi last Saturday. He has four goals to his name currently.
Simba opened the season brilliantly crushing Rockets 5-0, but since the opening day, the side has been on a receiving end. They lost 4-0 to table leaders before going to lose 2-1 to Weatherhead and were 5-1 losers to Wananchi.
Simba sit second last in the league with 3 points while Weatherhead are second with ten.
