Geoffrey Sserunkuma and Tom Masiko rejected offers by KCCA to sign new contracts at Lugogo.
The duo is part of the high profile departures from the Lugogo based club with Sserunkuma joining Zambia’s Buildcon while Masiko moved to Vipers.
Speaking to Kawowo Sports, Mike Mutebi, the KCCA manager revealed that the club never intended to let the two players leave.
“Geoffrey (Sserunkuma) and Masiko rejected our offers,” said Mutebi who later revealed what was on table.
We offered each two year deals with a settlement fee of USD 2800 (Ugx. 10 million) and an improved salary which they rejected.
The gaffer went further to accuse the two players of dishonesty depending on how they reacted.
When I told Masiko about the deal, he never got back to me and all I heard later was that he had signed with Vipers. For Sserunkuma, he hesitated to sign just because he didn’t want the club to get any fee in case a club wanted to him.
On the rest of departures, Mutebi confirmed the club had no interest in keeping either at Lugogo for the season ahead.
These include Ivan Ntege who has since moved to Botswana, Sulaimon Akinyemi (Buildcon, Zambia), Vincent Kayizzi, Lawrence Kasadha and Robert Ssentongo.
The rest weren’t in our plans so we released them at no condition. Ntege, Vincente (Kayizzi), Akinyemi, Ssentongo and Kasadha were all released.
Hassan Wasswa Dazo case
Defender Hassan Wasswa Dazo who spent the whole of last season on the sidelines is another player who has been released and Mutebi explains.
It was going to be hard for him to get playing time. Besides, his injury is worrying so we opted to let him go.
Majwega for loan
Left winger Brian Majwega is another player the club won’t have at Lugogo but has only been released on loan with reports that he will join URA.
The former Azam and Simba midfielder has a year left on his contract after rejoining the club early last year.
Mpuuga, Wila, Ssenkumba and Mugume
The club also opted out of recalling players they loaned to Police FC last season.
These include defenders Martin Mpuuga and Paul Wila plus midfielder Yasin Mugume who have since joined the Cops on a permanent deal.
Midfielder Ssenkumba is also linked with a move to Myanmar.
