Rockets will hope to secure their first National Hockey League win when they take on Wananchi on Sunday at the National Hockey Stadium, Lugogo.

The side, after enduring another damaging defeat in form of a 5-0 loss to table toppers Kampala Hockey Club Stallions last weekend, remained stuck at the bottom of the pile with no point. It was their fifth defeat of the campaign having lost all their first round matches.

On Sunday, Rockets will seek to turn the tables upside down. It will be an uphill task for them however, given the defending champions, are chasing for their third victory of the season and are trying to close the gap tops. It’d be a huge surprise to see Rockets pick up victory tomorrow.

Wananchi played out an entertaining draw with Weatherhead last weekend. Vincent Kasasa’s boys humbled Wananchi in the first round, but the spoils were shared on Saturday as a 4-4 draw opened the second round.

Last season’s top scorer Thomas Opio and Collin Batusa were on target on that day, and the duo will be expected to shine tomorrow.

In their first meet this term, Wananchi pummeled Rockets 8-1, a win that earned them their first league win. The same outcome is expected on Sunday as Wananchi will be looking at reducing the gap at the top of the table to five points given; current leaders KHC are out of action this weekend.

Wananchi will see this as an excellent opportunity to return to winning ways and will cause Rockets a lot of issues with their attacking variety.

If Weatherhead lose to Simba, victory will propel Wananchi to the second place as they boast of a better goal difference. The side currently occupies the third position with 7 points while their opponents sit bottom.
