Defending champions Wananchi [M] registered their biggest win of the season on Sunday with a 10-1 bashing of bottom side Rockets.

Wananchi took the lead through Jerome Owori in a pulsating encounter inside 10 minutes, but Michael Nashimolo restored parity in the 25th minutes.

However, it was not too long before the men in green went on a scoring spree, with Swalik Isabirye putting back his side ahead.

Owori completed his brace in the 30th minute, before team captain Innocent Raskara who replaced namesake Innocent Mbabali as skipper netting the fourth from a penalty to end the first stanza in a commanding manner.

The defending champions picked up from where they had left, and Collin Batusa found the fifth before Thomas Opio entering his name on the score sheet.

Midfielder Emmanuel Baguma was not left out as he netted the seventh and Opio added his second, Wananchi’s eighth.

Batusa joined Owori and Opio as brace scorers in the 68th minute when he scored the ninth. Julius Sseruyange wrapped up the day with the tenth.

It was Wananchi’s biggest win this campaign. Their heaviest victory this term had come against the same opponent back in June when they cruised to a 8-1 victory to secure their first win of the season.

Following Weatherhead’s convincing win over Simba, victory keeps Wananchi third but they reduce the gap on top of the table to five points.

Rockets meanwhile, remain rooted to the bottom of the league with no point.
