FUFA Big League side Nyamityobora Football Club has signed six senior players ahead of the 2017-18 season kick off.

The development follows the capture of coach Alex Isabirye from Masavu after the former Uganda Cranes international striker had a brief stint with the Entebbe based club.

The recruited senior players are Elukanah Nkugwa, Musa Docca, Titus Lubega, Godfrey Buni, Bruhan Matovu and Godfrey Ssempiira.

According to a club official, Sulait Makumbi, who is also a FUFA delegate having floored strong man Rogers Mulindwa in the recently concluded FUFA polls, the club eyes a good season in which they should gain promotion.

Makumbi, who watched Uganda Cranes 2-2 draw with Tanzania club Azam at the St Mary’s Stadium disclosed to Kawowo Sports the significance of such players.

We have opted for such senior players because we are well aware of the demands of the FUFA Big League.

You need class and experience to win most fixtures home or away and get promoted. We are taking no chances.

Nyamityobora was last season coached by Charles Ayiekho Lukula, who has since moved on to Kirinya-Jinja S.S.

They had a fair season last term, often playing neck to neck with the likes of Masavu and Synergy but ran out of steam where it mattered most.

The FUFA Big League is divided into two groups – Elgon and Rwenzori. The winner of each group qualifies directly to the Uganda Premier League.

The third club is determined via a promotional play off.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
