Warriors capped an impressive first round of the 2017 National Basketball League season by roasting new comers JKL Dolphins 81-41 on Wednesday.
Scoring leader Michael Bazangu put the first points on board for Warriors who took a rather competitive first quarter 19-14. The shooting guard scored 14 of Warriors’ 19 points.
The 2012 champions stretched their lead to double figures with Jude Ochen and Mark Opiyo connecting from 3-point range as Dolphins struggled to put the ball in the basket and were limited to just 7 points in the frame.
Syrus Kiviiri (12 points) took charge of the third period knocking down three triples for the title hopefuls and there was no way back for Dolphins.
Bazangu scored game 18 points to lead Warriors, Opiyo chipped in with 15 points and returning Philip Ameny grabbed team high 13 rebounds.
Daniel Orenga scored 12 for JKL Dolphins while Francis Ogola picked game high 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, JKL Lady Dolphins beat A1 Challenge 48-42 with Muhayimina Namuwaya leading the way with 11 points and 16 rebounds backed by Falvia Oketcho and Jamila Nansikombi who scored 8 points apiece.
Stella Nikuze and Olivia Mulwana matched game high 11 points in a losing effort for A1.
