Augustin Senghor was elected president of the Senegal Football Federation (FSF) for a third term during a successful elective General Assembly in Dakar over the weekend.

After failing to get the required votes in the first round, Senghor beat rival Mbaye Diouf Dia by 264 votes to 151 in the second round to retain his position.

Earlier in the first round, the incumbent garnered 234 votes against 104 by Dia.

The third candidate, Louis Lamotte tallied 75 votes, pushing the race into a second round which saw the winner emerging in the wee hours of the following day.

The election was supervised by CAF Executive Committee member, Ahmed Yahya from Mauritania.

Senghor’s first mandate was in 2009 before being re-elected in 2013 for a second term.

On the same day, Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) voted into office Wallace Karia as replacement for Jamal Malinzi.

Karia took over the presidency after the Elective Assembly held in Dar es Salaam.

He amassed 95 votes out of the valid 125 votes.

In total, 128 votes were cast and 3 were invalid.  Former Tanzania Kilimanjaro star Ally Mayay Tembele and Richard Shija managed 9 votes each, Iman Madega got 8, Mwakalebela (3) and Emmanuel Kimbe managed a single vote.
