- 2018 CHAN Qualifiers | 2nd Leg – Final Round
- Saturday, 19th August 2017
- Rwanda Amavubi Stars Vs Uganda Cranes (Agg: 0-3)
- At Kigali Regional Stadium (3 p.m in Rwanda, 4 p.m in Uganda)

After seeing his side fall 3-0 away from home to dominant Uganda Cranes, Rwanda Amavubi Stars head coach Antoine Hey believes the battle is far from finished.
Creative midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba scored twice and Derrick Nsibambi got the other as the Ugandan ran riot at the St Mary’s stadium in Kitende.
Hey expected a tough challenge from the CECAFA giants and he got it;
We expected a tough game against Uganda and I cannot blame my players for losing.
They did well and created chances but sometimes you need to use the chances that come your way and unfortunately today we didn’t.
Referee blame game
Hey pointed to a soft penalty that was awarded by Burundian referee Pacifique Ndabihahwenimana which led Uganda Cranes opener by Mutyaba after Nsibambi was brought down by defender Aimable Nsabimana.
We conceded an early penalty, which I think was not the correct decision by the referee. We tried to reorganize again but my players were so nervous after falling behind.
We are going to prepare the best we possibly can for the second leg, it’s not over yet, anything can happen
I am disappointed we didn’t get anything from the game. My players gave their best, but we just couldn’t get an away goal, which would have been a good foundation to build on next Saturday.
Rwanda will welcome back first choice goalkeeper, Eric ‘Bakame’ Ndayishimiye after missing the first leg through suspension.
However, two players will be missing. Defender Aimable Rucogoza and striker Bernabe Mubumbyi who both got yellow cards are out with suspension.
