Certainly a familiar face to motorsport anywhere on the continent, Emmaneul Katto remains a revered figure.
‘Emka’ as he was referred to had his name painted in Uganda and beyond during the late 1990s and 2000s. His driving style was vigorous; his fanbase always euphoric.

Recently in Tanzania for the African Rally Championship round, Katto admitted he misses rally.
“I have spent like three years without watching any event. But I somehow found myself coming to Tanzania to watch the rally.”
“After watching these guys compete, I am honestly intrigued with what have seen. I really miss the sport now,” he confessed.
Watching Christakis Fitidis and Gerard Miller further enticed Katto to think of racing again.
“It was inspiring to see Gerard and Fitidis still compete so well with the fresh blood. These drivers are older than me but still so fit to race. I think I can also compete so well if I decided to drive again,” he told Kawowo Sports.
Katto won the 1995 and 1996 Uganda National rally championships. He also won several events during his competitive years. His last participation was during the 2009 Pearl of Africa rally in Uganda.
