Uganda Cranes captain Denis Masinde Onyango began the new Premier Soccer League (PSL) season with a clean sheet as Mamelodi Sundowns won 2-0 at SuperSport United.

Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana and Themba Thwane scored for Pitso Mosimane’s side as they launch a campaign to reclaim the PSL from Bidvest Wits.

Kekana put the Brazilians in a lead inside 34 minutes before Thwane made the points safe with a second goal six minutes after the break.

SuperSport United ended the game with a man less after Dean Furman was sent off after a second bookable offence in the 74th minute.

Elsewhere, Benni McCarthy’s Cape Town City won 1-0 against reigning champions Bidvest Wits, Polokwane drew goalless with Baroka whilst Amazulu were 1-0 winners over Free State Stars.

There was also victory for Orlando Pirates against Chippa United at the Orlando stadium.
